Best Unrestricted 308 Black rifle?

really?

i think the original XCR-l looks nothing like the Scar16, but i do think Robinson arms re-designed the XCR to look like the Scar16 as the Scar was destroying the XCR in the U.S. market...

I don't want to come across as a ####, but I'm gonna have to disagree my friend. All that's changed in the design is the addition of the "fast stock". Besides if the XCR stole anyones design it was the ACR which was designed after the Magpul Masada made in 2006. Either way, to say the XCR stole its looks from the SCAR is just wrong in my opinion.

Im thinking of getting the FNAR, although, does anyone who has one find it a tad heavy ? There is a BAR "Hog Hunter" thats basically an FNAR done up in camo, but it too is pushing 9 pounds. I'd also love a .308, in semi, thats minimum length, and doesnt weigh a ton to lug around. I looked at a Norinco M14 but that was also pretty heavy. I'd settle on a BAR hunting rifle but can you get an aftermarket stock with a pistol grip for them ?

I think bang for the buck, it's hard to beat the Norinco / Polytech M305... I had a short barrel version that was quite nice. I regret letting it go. My favorite .308 is the RFB - its a great little gun. Had a second hunt season with it and is very well suited for the job. Very compact, reliable and plenty accurate for my purposes.

Cheers

Mike

My vote goes for the M14/M1A/M305
Not really a black rifle to begin with, but lots of aftermarket to turn it into one if you wish.
And with work(mostly with reloads as mentioned before)they can be 1-1.5 MOA shooters consistently.
This one has pleasantly surprised me to be a constant 1 MOA gun. Can't get it to do any better than that, but it is consistent.

With an another 150 rounds of AE 150 gr FMBT and 40 rounds of Hornady 165 gr Superformance (gaz setting on position one for this ammo ), i am at 380 rounds with my XCR-M without a single malfunction, it is slowly swapping the first place in my book... JP.

Hi, does anyone know where I could find an FNAR in Canada or a Winchester SX-AR? I currently hunt with a Browning BLR .308

Thanks,

Jon Halifax, NS

Welcome to CGN Jon

I don't know about the SX-AR. There was an FNAR for sale on the EE (Equipment Exchange which you need permission from the site sponsor to access) but I don't see it now. Also, Questar International, which you can see above, has access but no stock. Gentle hint: You will have a much easier path on CGN if you do as much searching and due diligence on your own as possible ;) Best of luck on your hunt

I cant coment on the xcr and fnar , never handle them. had a norinco m14, it blew I my face at the 4 round. I will probably buy another one! but for handling the rfb is in a class of its on. it 8 plus pound but shiulders like a 5 pound rifle! mine is 99.9% reliable and 1-1.5 moa. The guns got great ergo's once you get use to it, its not like a ar but I like it almost as much.
