Whats the best value in a 1-4 AR optic?? I'm looking for something that's got good eye relief, good eyebox, useful reticle and good optical clarity? Im thinking of the Nikon Black or Leupold VX-R..suggestions??

I have the Nikon Black Force 1000 1-4x and I love it. I ran it on my AR15 for months and have really enjoyed it there. It has been sitting on top of my .308 Srag 10 build for the last 2 months while I wait for my scope to come in and it has done everything I have asked it to do. The reticle is nice for a target/tactical set up and it illuminates very nicely. When I do get the scope I ordered on the Stag I think I will be selling it though since for my AR I am finding I don’t shoot to distance enough to make use of it so will be going to an Eotech with a magnifier instead. But that has nothing to do with the scope performance, I would buy again for sure
 
I have a Vortex Crossfire 1-4. Price is right but man that sucker is a boat anchor. I’m going Leupold eventually due to weight.
 
I have had a VX-R Patrol for years as my primary optic. Really, I can't say enough good things about it. Excellent glass, functional reticle, daytime bright illumination, ultra light/short and looks great. While exposed turrets are often subject of criticism - I think they are a great feature on this optic. I have never in many years of travel, training, course or competitions had a turret knocked off zero.

Another big feature is the availability of Alumina flip caps - there is nothing in the industry that can compete IMHO if you are looking to cover lenses. While the 1.25 on the low end is certainly not ideal, it is something I have become used to but I certainly acknowledge that is the weak point and somewhat of an unknown for purchasers. I am definitely faster with my T2 dot but not by much.

Overall, just a fantastic optic. That is of course not to say the Vortex HD 1-4 I have for sale in the EE isn't great too :)

I have a trinity force 1-4X28mm with illuminated mil dot recticle 30mm tube and s ope rings. $100 it's a budget scope but a very good one for the price. I really like it. But put a 4-16 on the gun it was on.
