Best value .50BMG

I have some food for thought and an interesting bit of information worth knowing before you buy a M99 here in Canada. Whether or not it's an influencing factor for you is entirely your call. When the time comes you will not be able to re-barrel that M99 up here. It needs to be shipped back to Barrett in the USA. The barrel is hydraulically pressed into the receiver and apparently Barrett is the only shop in the known universe that can do the job. Today that may not seem like a big deal but if in the future, God forbid, there are any stupid restrictions placed on 50BMG stuff (again) you run the real risk of ending up with a Barrett boat anchor that can't hit the side of a barn at 100 yards. It's a shame that a guy can't spin a match barrel into the M99 because they'd sell like hotcakes up here if that were the case. Anyway, my suggestion would be a phone call to Ross at PGW or Rick at ATRS. Definitely not the most economical path but by far the best investment you could make into a 50BMG rifle as far as resale and service is concerned.

Now, if you're considering the M99 because the price is right and a re-barrel/service is of no concern to you then by all means ignore everything I've just said! Good luck to you....

I was looking at ATRS but just don't like all the "call for price" on a website...

I am trying to keep it under $10k optic included (more like $8k) and like the idea of the BORS attached to the optic. I was mainly looking at the Barrett because Wolverine has them in stock and prices on them plus I have heard the name before. I had looked a while ago at irunguns at the Windrunner they advertised but now can't see anything about pricing / availability.

Go with the PGW you will not regret it! Excellent service ! Canadian made and very accurate!

Just put a Sightron on her and be done with it. You do not need the BORS system learn the basics
for FFS ;-) Hardn the fack up! Jking

I'm in the same boat.....looking at either upgrading my .338 Lapua or going to the mighty .50.
There's not much to choose from for a match grade rifle...most have already been mentioned.
I'm in the PGW camp.
Another consideration is the reloading equipment and components to get started....bit of an investment here.
Keep us posted on what you decide!

PM'd for more info on the PGW

DG Photography... is that a pic of the PGW? That looks a LOT a bit ###y

I would probably rather have a .338LM as I can still shoot that at my range but my Dad is pushing for the .50BMG and since this is something he's probably going to be funding for me I think I can live with it :sniper:

Learn the basics?? WTH?!?! have you seen the cost of .50BMG?? I can't afford to learn the basics... need something to do it for me then all I need to learn is how to pull the trigger

Seriously though, I love gadgets and things that make life easier. Then once I am more comfortable and get more basics down then I can start to worry about ballistics.

I can set you up with factory match ammo for a very good price and components to make fun plinking ammo for cheap! PM me for details I will even give you recipe and the cheapest way to start reloading.

Ross or Steve will take good care of you! Amazing customer service!

Here's Rob Furlong at CISC helping a new shooter. The rifle PGW LRT 3! nuf said;-)

yeah... that's ###y... I have emails and messages out asking for pricing and accessories and haven't heard back... it's like being a kid in a candy store but all the candy is behind the counter locked up and there aren't any staff to let me at it!! lol

here is a question for you

HOW MANY ROUNDS ARE YOU GOING TO SHOOT IT IN 2014

from what you have said about cost, get a 338 and shoot it at your home range, the FUN factor is almost the same and you will shoot it a heck of a lot more

As many as I can afford, then probably a few more than that...

I also like having the idea of a rifle matching a pistol... I have a 50cal pistol, so why not a rifle?
