Hi there,

I am looking for good value, budget friendly single shot 12ga... I'd like it to be threaded for chokes and have the ability to swap barrels.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I am not sure if such a thing exists.

Most single shots are cheap, and have a fixed choke. And I've never seen barrels sold by themselves for a single shot shotgun.

Perhaps a pump action would be more up your alley. Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 are both well under $500, you can swap the barrels, and some of the barrels have screw-in chokes.

Agree with Suther, you're not describing a budget single shot 12 gauge.

I have a couple of the Warrior single shot 12 gauges made in Turkey - Corwin-Arms carries them (and the shipments usually sell out within a week or so), but another shipment is due within the next couple of weeks. They run under $200, are threaded and come with three chokes (and you can even get a rifled choke adapter for them). They aren't a Benelli or a Beretta, but they're good, solid, basic shotguns.

And at under $200, you can grab a shorty (14inch) and and 18inch, for $400, and have some spare coin left over for a case of birdshot and a few boxes of Turkey shot.

And if you trash it in the bush.... Oh well, it's a sub $200 shotgun.

This is the Gen 2 - Striker Fired with extractor, shorty. The Gen 1 had an external hammer. Word on the street is the Gen 3 is striker fired with ejector, and should be available within the next few weeks.

I was going to suggest the same, but they are way above the OPs price of under $500. You can't even get one receiver and barrel for that price, let alone multiple barrels or anything like that.

I totally forgot about the Warrior from Corwin (which is amazing because I really want one of their 20ga ones)
This is probably the closest thing you'll get to what you want. No changeable barrels, but they might be the only cheap single shot that uses screw-in chokes.

Thanks for the replies - that clears some of it up.

The Corwins look like the best deal right now for the chokes.

So... if I said: forget about chokes and different barrels, do you think I could get 2 single shots, 1 18" barrel cylinder, 1 26" barrel IC or tighter, for under 500? (and they would not be unreliable junk?)

IMHO and haters feel free to flame on: cooeys are not junk. Granted many of them have been trashed but just as many have sat in some old timers safe for the last couple decades. You could cut down to 18.5"
Corwin also brought in the Baikal singles. They also are not junk (feeling the Baikal hate coming already). They are built like a tank. Granted fixed choke but mod.
For $300 you could get a cooey to cut and a baikal with mod choke and probably have enough left for a case of 7 1/2 trap rounds, which are great for grouse - and trap.

Yeah, should be easy enough. A lot of used single shots go for $150-$200, and like grelmar, i have been sold on the corwin single shots. I have the exposed hammer gen1 version in the 18.5" barrel and i love it.

Put up with ad for a couple cooeys, most guys have 2 or 3 of em kicking around and you could have the barrels threaded for chokes.
