Best Varmint bullet in .243 Win?

I like the 70gr Nosler Ballistic Tips but I think they would exit a coyote. .243 is a pretty powerful round if you are trying to keep the pelts. Something like a .17 or .20 would prob be a better choice.

Have been using the Barnes tsx 85 gr with good results. Also use this for deer hunting. Iam sure the 80 ttsx would work also

Had some splashes with 55 and 58gr on shoulder hits… 65 gr V-max and 75 gr V-max have done best for my rifles accuracy and pelt damage although not worried about pelts with the prices these days.

I have shot a few yotes with 100g partitions @ 3000fps.
Small hole in and out. But the internal damage was impressive.

I think a solid constructed bullets like a partition or Barnes is a great Choice.

If you go light 55-65g you want to drive them fast so they don’t exit.

I have shot some with 87g v-max. Dropped them instantly. But the exit looked like a grenade went off.

I have some 55g Nosler Vamegeddon I will be playing with. But no experience yet.

58gr Vmax are awesome, but get tossed around a bit in the wind. 87gr Vmax are better for the wind but hard on pelts if that matters. I have dropped lots with more traditional big game cartridges, 308, 260 Rem, 6.5CM, etc and with a big game style bullet pelt damage is generally very minimal.

I have shot a few yotes with the hornady 100g interlock and hole size wasn’t any bigger than 223. These were broadside shots so not sure if would hit heavy bone area if there would more damage.

What sort of muzzle velocity are you getting with those?

When I lived back east I used 65 gr. Vmax's on Coyotes. 41.7 gr. Varget 3600 fps. Load is out of the Hornady book. Never had one exit, goes in and blows up, no exits. Hit a crow at 50 yds. broad side, the Vmax blew off the near side of the crow. Those Vmax's when moving at that velocity are wicked little bullets.
Up north here I use 95 gr. Nosler BT Hunting at 2900 fps. on Timber wolves, as there a much bigger and heavier critter than a coyote. Little hole going in, slightly bigger on exit, no appreciable fur damage. My experience on the matter for what its worth.

I used 58 grain V-Max for awhile and they were very accurate out of my rifle, just not very fur-friendly, if that is a concern.
