I'm finding it difficult to depress the sight plunger AND rotate the front sight post at the same time.

Don't want to marr the finish, but can't really push down the plunger while trying to turn the post.

Tips from the experts would be appreciated!

Use the bullet tip! (or use a pen)

If you want to get fancy, there is an adjustment tool you can buy. It is not expensive either.

You can get a front post tool to do it OR you can take a 223 casing and press in a notch on the mouth of the casing and use the mouth of the casing to press and rotate the front sight post.

thanks- problem i seem to be having is to push down and rotate at the same time.... how to rotate the post.

I will admit it can be tricky but there is no magic to it. Good tips posted already, not much else you can do… try pushing the plunger in while pushing the sight post to the side with a bullet tip or pen.

It is a bugger to do. As long as you don't scratch the finish I can't see any reason why you would affect your resale value if there's just some brass marring marks in that relatively hidden spot of the rifle. Use an empty casing or a bullet tip and keep your cool about it :) It's easy to get frustrated doing it.

As mentioned above, bullet tip from cartridge and then lean cartridge in direction you want to turn (while pressing down). You need to repeat this at every notch.

If you can't press down, it sounds like you've bottomed-out and you have a front sight post that is too long.

thanks to all for the suggestions and advice. will PATIENTLY rotate sight and avoid marring finish(as opposed to doing it in a mad panic and pi$$ing myself off for doing some damage)!
