One thing you can do if you worry about tear out is shape a piece on board shaped to the stock, clamp it on the stock and drill though it into the stock.
masking tape on the wood, will do the same thing.
If you have a pattern router bit with a bearing and a pattern 30mm that would work as well.
a 2 hp router is a bit over kill for this.
I do have a 30mm router bit , but using it right now. that is the size for euro hinges.
