Real pattern sessions are a long and involved labour of love. Doing it can be time consuming and pricy, but, you can learn from them. The standard target setup for rating chokes is a 30" circle @ 30 yds. The percentage of shot inside that circle, dictates how the choke is rated. It will also tell you a bit, about the fit of the gun and how you hold it. It will teach you a few things about shotshell and choke marketing hype and internet BS as well.
