Best way to mount a bipod

I have recently gotten a a Savage model 12 bench rest rifle and am looking for opinions on the best way to mount a bipod on the stock. I was thinking of putting a small rail on the for stock. Also what would you suggest for a pod? I was looking at the sinclair below but if I don't know if it would be any good for moving targets if I desire.

Can't comment on the Sinclair, but most bipods mount on either a quick detach swivel stud or on a little spigot.
A lot of target rifles have flush mounted rails in their forends, and bipods can be mounted to them using an adapter stud.
I wouldn't surface mount a rail of the type seen hanging all over tactikewl guns.
 
It kind of looks like it would be best just to add a swivel stud. But I dislike the fact that the studs like to catch on bags if shooting it off of bags. But I may not do that after mounting such a pod. Anyone know of a place in Canada maybe one of the gunnutz dealers who sell the Sinclair?
 
Studs are ok for the light little Harris pods that are on and off and don't weigh much. If you are looking at a heavy duty bipod like the one pictured I think that you would be best off with a rail. Either get a stock with one already on it or it shouldn't be too difficult to inlet one yourself.

I'm no expert but that would be my inclination.
 
Henry Rempel makes a ski type pod for Fclass shooters. He also has the capability to install an accessory rail if needed. He is in Alberta - I'm sure someone will post contact info for him.
