Hi there......recently purchased a Benelli M4 H2O......it currently sits stock with a 5 round mag tube.

I know I can get a ( +1 ) here in Canada but then I will have to send it out for cerekote to match the H20 silver finish

Instead of dealing with that (and the cerekote not matching) qwhich I know it won't

What are the legalities surrounding ordering up a factory benelli 7 round mag tube and plugging it so it so it only holds 5 ?

Thanks everyone

It would have to be "permanently" modified to not hold more than 5 rounds of the shell length stamped on the barrel. So 3" in the case of the M4? A plug like you can run for limiting the mag tube for hunting is no bueno.

I Run Guns routinely imports shotguns with too much factory magazine capacity.

They normally limit the capacity to our legal limits by gluing a piece of wood into the mag-tube before it crosses the border.

This has been deemed acceptable by the CBSA.

I know one guy here has done the full length tube before. I personally Got the +1 extension which sorta keeps the M4s90 look to it.

CarrierComp makes a full length M4 tube which you might be able to get in through IRG.

Good Link.....still prefer the M4 over the M2 even though you can get 7 in the M2 mag tube

You can still ghost load the M4 with the 6 in the tube :D, for 8 rounds total in the gun.

Besides, the M2 chambered in 3" will (or SHOULD) hold the same as the M4 would. If you get a 3.5" gun you can certainly fit another shell in the tube though, I wasn't aware Benelli made an M2 with 3.5" chamber?

AFAIK there's no 3.5" M2 , but the Super Black Eagle is basically the same gun in 3.5".

Are you sure this is correct?

The "permanently modified" part?

Would a "plug" not be sufficient?

As in a 17 round handgun magazine "blocked" to 10 rounds is sufficient and legally speaking "permanent"

Anyways.....i still like to go ahead with the full length 7 round mag tube, as I know if I just get the +1 and cerekote it, it won't match the factory NP3 finish

(Been there done that with other cerekote finishes not matching up with factory parts)

For the 7 round tube mod, will I need the longer spring?

No its the same spring .
The issue is you will have to have a gun smith do the mod and ins tall the tube. As you will be installing a prohibited magazine on your gun . Untill it's finished.

I know what you what you are saying about having a prohibited mag tube until it's fully installed

Ok.......i understand you have the +1 available and you guys do cerekote, how close can you come to the NP3 finish like on the M4 H2O?

Texture wise i don't care, do you think you could come within 95 % of color match?

And I'd also send you the OEM mag tube for color match reference

I would think that the extension by itself and not installed isn't actually a prohibited magazine... Because it's not a magazine. It's just a piece of threaded tube and can't do anything if it's not screwed on. By that reasoning any +2 or larger 870 extension is prohibited because it can also fit on an 1100. And any Nordic extension is prohib because they're universal and used with a firearm specific nut.
