Hey guys. Got a Remington trigger which seems to have a particularly hard variety of goo on one of the trigger adjustment screws. I have gotten the bulk of it off by wetting with "Goof Off", followed by judicious use of a pick. I've exposed the screw head, but that sucker sure doesn't want to cooperate by busting loose. It's a 40 X, not an Xmark, so I'm not about to throw it in the garbage, which is what many of you were thinking when you first saw Remington:)

What has worked best for you fellas in the past? Any advice will be appreciated, as my methods are not working too good right now.

I use brake cleaner or alcohol for the lacquer that makes triggers heavy but are you refering to the red locktite blob?

If it's red loctite in and on the screw head, concentrated heat is about the only thing that will break it free. Not sure how you'll do that effectively with small screws in a trigger group.

Throw gobs of money at it. That usually gets their attention.

This is of no help to you at all but I put a Timney in my 40X and I couldn't be happier.
Now I'll play with the Remington trigger and see what it takes to get rid of that gum..
