What is the best way to ship?
firearms, that is not too expensive, within Canada?
OR Cheap way of shipping?
 
Send by Canada Post, insured. Usually cost about $25 or less.

If possible, remove the stock for the bbl action to shorten the package. Anything over 1 meter gets the overlength charge, approx $8.

I've shipped a few by Canada post, get insurance, with signature service, and the tracking number will allow you to use CP web for tracking the package.

alberta to ontario about 6 days, alberta to nfld about 10
 
I have used Canada Post extensively for shipping and they have never let me down. Several courier companies have. Might take an extra day or two depending where you're shipping, but always good service - make sure you take out insurance.
 
I've been burned by every shipper EXCEPT Canada Post...

I've never had a problem with them... Ship everything with a tracking #, it's cheap piece of mind...

Canada Post. Priority, Express or whatever. Put it in a well wrapped box, insured and click send!!

They haven't let me down....knock wood...

If you think about it, from my knowledge, to ship firearms you're supposed to use a "registered carrier" of sorts...like Loomis. PLUS, you hev to declare it as a firearm and go through all the BS paperwork. Next thing you know, some punk gets his hands on it, because everyone knows there's a gun in the box, and things start to go miss'n.

Damn liberals!
 
44fordy, Canada Post now handles even restricted.... And NEVER tell them what's in the box, NEVER!!! You are allowed to send guns with Canada Post, just insure it and send it with a signature... Maybe someone else can post a link to the can post rules???

My local outlet knows what I'm shipping,

But don't tell them they don't need to know

before you disassemble and ship ask teh buyer if its ok. :roll:

nothing worse then having to expalain by PM how to reassemble the rifle :lol:
 
When I was shipping a handgun, during the course of a friendly conversation with the clerk, I mentioned I was shipping a broken electronic instrument requiring repair :D
 
be careful about lying as to what's in the box. Sometimes they go thru a scanner, like at an airport. I know of one CGN'er who was sending an action in the mail, they returned it saying it was a "restricted item" or some other bull####. Had he lied about it he would have looked a bit suspect.
I suspect that some do-gooder running the scanner saw the trigger and thought it was a hundgun.

I tell them nothing. I used to use a Postal outlet at the local 7-11 store until the lady asked me what was in the box. I told her it was a firearm. I didn't like the fact that she asked. I found out later that they really have no right to ask unless you want to insure it for more than $1000, not sure if that's correct.

Now I use a Canada Post outlet and they've been great. Most of them don't even ask me for ID anymore. A couple of them know my name when I come in the door. I don't know if that's good or bad :roll:
