I prefer my 92 in 44-40 for Deer, they are no tougher today than when Grandpa shot this gun.

I would go with the Browning copy of the winchester 86 carbine in 45/70.The 45/70 is deadly on deer even in it s factory loading ,it is a great cartridge if the range is kept under 150 yards. The only downside to the 86 is it is iron sights only as it is top eject though you might be able to fit a side mount on it but I prefer iron sights on my levers anyway
A deluxe 64 carbine that's worth a pic . Show it off
If it were my choice id go with a new jap model in 2535. Perfect for deer

I would have a fresh one right now, but the dumb buggers gave 'er a 1 in 12" twist which is totally crap for accuracy with the factory 117 gr bullets. The proper twist rate for a 25-35 is 1 in 9".
What would most say the best years/models would be?
Or a nice Browning 71 in 348. All the Browning replicas are absolutely beautiful.
