I have a couple of rusty old guns that I just finished cleaning up for a friend of mine, but I had to strip much of the bluing to get the rust out. I'd like to touch it up before I bring him his guns back, any suggestions as to which products would be recommended and which ones to avoid ?

I'm an Oxpho fan. It's available from Wholesale Sports. Make sure the metal is squeaky clean (although Oxpho is more forgiving in this regard than most other products), and heat it up with a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot water before applying. Other than that, just follow the directions. It usually takes a few applications to get it nice and dark.

IMO
All bluing products seem to work much better if the metal is very warm to hot to the touch, and absolutely clean of oils.
Particularly Blue wonder. It produces an excellent quality blue, but must be very hot to do so effectively.
