Better hunting bullet the TSX or the GMX in the 6.5

Which 6.5? What range do you plan on shooting? Both require impact velocities in the 2000fps range for reliable expansion so neither is a great long-range choice. For close to mid range work, I'd say pick the most accurate one.

I'm running a 6.5 x 55 running hot and using 140 sst for 400 yards and under with great success
and Amax over 400 yards I carry 2 mags

For those of you that have used the 6.5 either TSX or GMX in hunting situations, what type of expansion where you getting? What was the cartridge and at what speed and distance was it used? Also what animal was it used on?
I am thinking of getting one of the 6.5 offerings but am looking for as much input as possible before opting in.

Vanessa has killed several animals with the 120-grain GMX out of the Creedmoor but all under 300 and maybe 250 yards. Her longer range animals with the Creedmoor have been with an SST, including a 542 yard shot on a big bull elk. We've only recovered one GMX but it was what you expect.....2x expansion and near 100% weight retention. The big difference between the TSX and the GMX is the TSX is a four petal design and the GMX is six petal. The GMX offers more frontal area with a mushroom shape typical of a bonded bullet. The TSX has voids in the frontal area where the petals fold out. There is speculation on both sides as to which is a more effective profile but at the end of the day, both are super tough bullets that penetrate and expand well when used at sufficient impact velocity. Hereès the one GMX we recovered from the Creedmoor.

My niece took a cow moose (nuisance tag) several years ago with the 120 TSX from a 6.5x55. Not a 'hot' load

Moose was quartering to her( my brother and I finally got it right) at 80-100 yards. Bullet punched through shoulder bone, took out top of heart, broke a rib . Did not find bullet -did not look to hard as that was least of our concerns at the time

Perfect performance, shoots well . My vote, which doesn't mean GMX would not do as well
