I would use the exact same load data when loading a 55 gr polymer tipped bullet as I would with say a 55 gr soft point? Or any other type for that matter, as long as the weight of the bullet is the same?
 
correct, even within 5-10 grs above or below the weight you can figure out a safe load.

the OAL(over all length) may be different as well depending on how drastic the bullet shape difference is.
 
I always compare load data from 3 sources, The bullet manufacturer, the powder that I am using and an independent source such as the Lyman Manual.
If you look at the average, in most cases they are very close.

Funny you should mention that as for the most part, I agree, However, with this one I've looked at several sources (lyamn, lee, Hodgon) and their max safe load is quite different. Hogdon (with H335) shows a max in the low 25's, Lee, was a bit higher but Lyman went as high as 27 grains.

Think it's safe to say with H335 and a 55gr bullet, there is a fair bit of wiggle room.
