Well, I did me a quick google search, but couldn't find anything of it. I recently got a nice custom Tikka m695 with a Bevan King SS barrel on it (.458win). Can't for the life of me learn anything about the barrel! Anyone familiar with it?

Thanks,

Thanks,

It is Bevan King, but you won't find much on the net about his barrels. Canadian barrel makers are too busy making barrels to worry about the internet.:)

Yeah, my mistake entirely...one msg had "beaven", which I mistook for beaver...which was supposed to be Bevan...whichever. Nice fitting barrel though, looking forwards to trying it out! Going to do me edit so I don't feel like such a dolt :p

I know Bevan personally, and he makes a great barrel. He does not claim to make Bench rest barrels, but many of his are as good as other's BR barrels. Regards, Eagleye.

I have 4 rifles with his barrels they all shoot good. He is out of Pouce Coupe BC and no longer makes barrels from what I understand. He is getting up there in years. I met him a couple of time very nice man.

Bevan and I have been friends for more than thirty-five years. Met him when he and his family lived in Whitehorse.

He first learned barrel making from PO Ackley, and later conferred a lot with Chick Donnelly, as well as others. He is indeed retired now, finishing up a few of his own rifles, some of which he has had in the works for more than ten years. :runaway:

I have had many of his barrels, still do, and never had a bad one.

I have a Remington 700 in 458 Win Mag. with one of his barrels. If you're reloading, I found mine most accurate with 50.1gr IMR3031 and Barnes 500 gr. This gives me 3/4" groups and has enough power to lay the law down with any grizzly. For some odd reason the 350 and 400 grain bullets just didn't give me the accuracy I was looking for and besides, who needs a powerhouse load that's quit brutal. I find with mine, I can shoot it all day even gopher hunt with it. :sniper:
