Got a new BHP and the trigger is ghastly.

I removed the mag safety, which was an adventure in of itself.

Now I have a crisp clean break, save that it's 8-10 pounds, depending how my scale is feeling.

Any tips or links for DIY? Or am I better off giving it to my smith and saying Make It 3.5-4 Pounds, Please?

I've watched a disassembly video. Looks easy save that I have an ambi safety with a tiny roll pin in it.

The few shots that I didn't flub indicate that it has really good accuracy potential. If I have a trigger that doesn't feel like a grip trainer it ought to be a great gun.

They are nice shooters for sure.
I always removed the mag safety, and also took a few coils off the hammer spring.... This was usually enough to make the trigger decent.

I have an x-fine ceramic stone from Brownells, as well as a couple slightly coarser india ones.

I'll try nipping a few coils from the mainspring, as suggested - it's ridiculously heavy when I can hardly #### the pistol one-handed.

No tweaking to the sear spring?

I've also noticed that the reset has no feel to it whatsoever. nature of the beast I expect.

The mag safety I kind of broke, trying to take it out the youtube (easy) way, without removing the trigger...darn thing is made of plastic, and apparently that method only works on older models. I didn't think that I'd ever get that trigger pin out without destroying the pistol. Good thing I don't need ever remove it again....

I was thinking of getting a set of VZ grips for it, both to slim it down a little and to provide a bit more grip, since the frame is smooth and a bit slippery.

I hate to post blasphemous stuff.....buuutt.....
I really like hogue wrap around on my bhp clones (feg, too cheap for a browning). Just fits me right.

Remove the mag safety, which you have done. Polish all metal on metal contact points of the trigger, sear and hammer. You can get reduced powder hammer springs from Wolff Springs, they made a huge difference on my HP.

I put in a cylinder and slide trigger and sear kit when i removed my mag saftey..and went to a lighter hammer spring..makes a huge difference.

I think i have another cylinder and slide HP set kicking around unopened in package...If you put this kit in, you will probably need to refit the saftey (mine needed refitting, but it's not hard if your careful and good with a file and stone)

I wouldn't know how to re-fit a safety, I'm afraid. I know nothing about the platform before a week ago.

...and I sure don't want to take the trigger out again. The pin is already a bit tatty on the RHS.

And I *did* work the spring out of its slot once the pin began to move. It still took a devil of a pounding to get it out.

Can't stand rubber grips, I've found. They tend to be sticky rather than grippy, and then get squirmy. I like the VZ because it's like grabbing a bastard file. ;)

I'll poke away polishing for the time being and see what happens.
