Hi

I am looking for a bi- pod for a riffle in Canada, any canadian retailers, looking to spend less than $100

Thanks

unless prices have come down significantly, youd be nuts to buy a harris bipod in canada.
many years ago before i knew any better i bought my first Harris swivel bipod - the short one - from a gunsmith for $179+tax :(

bloody price-gouging bastards. buy off ebay or order from an american company. dont even look at anything thats not a harris, and do yourself a favor and get the S type (swivel) :)

thanks guys

how about that snipepod? I saw it on wild TV. I find the Harris only go to 25
inches.

Thanks again

Dan

Hi:
Yeah I agree Ebay is the place to go. Even though they are anti-gun and their policy sucks, they still help out the gun community with some hard to get items or now with the dollar - cheaper items.

Ive got a snipepod and its great. Ive killed many many deer and coyotes with that thing. I like the fact it comes off the rifle and stores in a very nice pouch for your belt. I usually throw it on when Im close to an animal in a stock, really helps to steady the rifle in a comfortable sitting position.

I've got a Harris on my 308. I don't use a bipod hunting, rather I shoot off a pack or, if need be, my hind legs. Harris are built like tanks. I've seen the guy on Predator Quest, Les Johnson, hawking snipe pods, but if you look closely (OK, not that closely) at his rifle, you'll see he uses a Harris. In fact, I don't think I've seen him use a single thing he endorses, except the camo.

If you're in Vancouver, hit Reliable Gun on Fraser. If you're in Edmonton try P&D. They're my two current favourite gunstores thanks to their great service.

there are a lot of other bipods out there....
thing is, Harris pretty much sets the standard.

IMO look around while the dollar is strong and try to find a good deal on a Harris, so you can at least start with the best. dont make the mistake i did and buy a cheap pod for your first one - its money down the drain.
if you end up not liking your Harris you can sell it for a very small loss - they hold their value quite well.

another bit of advice:
get the height you really need. the short harris is really only good for prone or benchrest. it is just a little too short for seated/kneeling shots. the medium size harris is great for a seated position but a bit too tall while prone/off a bench.... etc. make sure you get the height you need.

i got the shortest harris and then had to go back out and buy the medium length pod later because most of the varmint shots we take we dont lay down in the grass, but rather shoot from a seated or kneeling position. i have both now, and im not unhappy - both get used, but for different situations. for varminting i much prefer the medium height and kneeling/seated shots in the grass.

also i highly recommend you get the swivel version Harris. every single one of my friends who skimped and got the non-swivel Harris, saying 'bah, i dont need no stinkin' swivel' ended up eventually shooting with mine and deciding that they did much prefer the swivel -- then had to sell their non-swivel and buy a swivel version.
