Biathlon ammunition in warm weather

Hi,
First I'd like to thank Grauhanen for opening my eyes to some of the complexities of 22lr ammo.

Now, I am curious if anyone knows how biathlon ammo would perform in warm weather? Let's assume a temp of 20°C.

1. Would it be supersonic as it leaves the muzzle?
2. Would the lube cause any sort of issues?

Thanks for any info or insights you could provide.

I'm asking out of curiosity more than anything.

If you go to the website Accurate Shooter, scroll down and click on rimfire. There is an article there on rimfire ammo testing ''Bleker rifle used''. The Lapua Polar Biathalon shoots quite well in their testing, which was done in warmer weather . I know both these rounds use a lube that is more cold resistant and I am not sure if they are using a powder that is not cold sensitive. This winter I have used both SK Sport Biathalon and Lapua Extreme , both shot excellent at 100 and 200 yards. Looking forward to testing these 2 in warmer weather. Anschutz 1712

In my experience, SK Biathlon Sport shoots very well in the summer. Last July I shot the five 1/2 inch groups challenge successfully with SK Biathlon Sport. I do not recall the exact ambient temperature, but it was typical summer warm, and I was in the shade, no direct sunlight on rifle or ammo. So it was not blazing hot.

The lube on SK Biathlon is drier waxy and in my experience is good in the heat. It is not liquid and slimy like the red SK Rifle Match or yellow SK Standard.

I do not have chrono data for it in the summer, so can't say if it goes supersonic in the heat. I think your local elevation will have an affect on air density and resulting velocity.
 
I won't be able to say for all biathlon ammo brands/types but no significant issue or deviations in accuracy in the summer.

Biathletes train in the summer just the same (on rollerskis) with same shooting equipment.
 
Having tried Lapua CenterX Biathlon and Eley TENEX and MATCH Biathlon, it functions as anticipated.
Used in two Coopers and Ruger 10/22.
While not really warm weather experience, but a friend borrowed my JSR and bought Eley Match Biathlon with a velocity of 1085 and beat me in our October 1200 Match.
At 200 metres with the 10/22 my best group of three for 10-shots was 4.7".
With the Montana Varminter at 300 yards, under 5" for 12 shots.
I still keep my ammo warm with hand warmers or in my shirt pocket so until the weather warms considerably, the jury is still out.
Eley says their Biathlon ammo is "specially formulated" but taking both Match and Biathlon varies apart, the weights of powder is similar and even with a 10X loop, I could see no difference.
Some of the Biathlon in my stores is 1053 and 1091. I read one claim of 1160 fps and I have also seen 1109 and 1068.
None has been tried in the Remington. None has been run over the chronograph yet.
