Better get some pictures up if you don't want to get hard timed more.
Take it apart and the bolt situation becomes pretty obvious as the bolt head will rapidly twist and retract when the bolt is removed from the rifle.
I know that there are folks who are mechanically inept enough to not get the problem. But in my opinion if you have figured what that thing behind your zipper really does and can perform basic maintainence on an Automobile you should be GTG on the Ross rifle.
If you can't get your head around basic mechanical principles then you better get the latest plastic and stainless toy offering from the commercial rifle market.

Got me a sporter on my to-do list. Want to restore it. Stock was cut right where the rear barrel band would go over, so I plan to find a decent piece of wood and attach it, then hide the repair under the band. Problem is that bands aren't easy to come by.
