Has anyone had any experience with Big Bore Air Guns ?
.308 .45 , .50 or .51 cal .? Apparently in the US there is some states that allow hunting big game deer ,rams etc. not completely excepted or understood in others. In some parts of Europe it seems common place , i'll bet there's some CGN rs from the old countries that could shed a little light and answer some questions . In blogs ,some claim to have brought down big animals ( and on a regular basis )& clean shots . Also read in 1774 the Austrian army was armed with state of the art PCP s ,could fire 20 shots of .50 cal .
very expensive ,complicated ,and elusive ...BUT interesting .

Several years ago I came across a site with many pictures of various animals taken with airguns. One was even what could be best described as a pistol, it took a warthog with one shot.

Figure 500-600fps and a .530 ball and you best not be shooting anything that bites back.About .45ACP ballistics.Shooting ranch bison :like shooting a beef cow with a .22.................they headshoot pigs over bait stand in the southern States. The Austrian Army carried pre filled replacement butt stocks so their guns could be easily ready to go again meanwhile slaughtering the poor sods with muzzleloaders.A bicycle type pump was used much like todays ........................only the rich could afford airguns in the 1600's..........Harold...PS back then if the pellet didn't kill you the doctor would!

There was another enterprizing guy that took a old 8mm mauser and hooked it up to a pre-charged bottle and took deer with it in the States of course.Looked crude but it worked.......................Harold....... used a Lee 8mm bullet mold for projectiles
