Big Bore Lever Gun

I'm looking for a big bore lever gun in the .450 size range. Is the Marlin guide gun the only way to go? I need something compact. Also, has there been many changes to the Marlin guide gun over the years? Thanks.

how about a rossi 1892 chambered in 454 casull . it holds around 10 rounds ... also fires 45 colt

it weighs around 5 pounds , it is small emough it feels like a toy gun untill you get used to it .

Don't knock his efforts. A man has to know his limitations. I went with a Marlin 1895GS in 45-70

and it's sturdy enough to handle a 'situation' which ever 'method' the individual chooses to use.

Yes, and they can shoot pretty good too even for a Marlin

What is the intended use? I have the Marlin 45-70 1895GBL and a Rossi 92 16" barrel 44 mag, the 45-70 has a set of XS ghost rings and the Rossi has Skinner barrel mounts. I like them both but so far I give the edge in accuracy to the Marlin. I expect the Rossi in 454 might hurt a bit.

I've only ventured to 375 Win in a 94 and 44mag in a Ruger 96 and a Browning 92.

I'd go with an older Marlin Guide Gun, but not one of the very first ones with ported barrels. The muzzle blast they added was much more uncomfortable than whatever recoil they eliminated.

My .444 is an Outfitter (ported). My other Marlin is a 1895M and it is not ported. Lots of power in a small package. Both are pre-Remington.
