Big bore levers

Here's the latest addition to my stable. 1895ABL in 45-70. Love it!

It is a saddle ring carbine identical in every respect to the original, even down to the half-#### notch on the hammer.
I am ok with the metal butt plate as recoil doesn't bother me a bit ( where theres no sense, theres no feeling ) LOL..
Seriously I have other bigger rifles that recoil much harder that wear recoil pads.
 
I have had a few Marlin 1895's. One Cowboy and 3 1895 ss models. I still have one 1895ss, but my biggest bore lever is an 1876 .50-95 short rifle that Marstar had on clearance. It is made by Chaparral, in Italy. Apparently the early ones were somewhat variable in quality, but mine is very nice and extremely accurate.
 
Well, I can tell you that the sickness for big bore Marlins is equivalent to a crack addiction. Well, theorhetically anyway since I've never actually been addicted to crack but you get what I'm saying. Started with a 1950 Marlin 336 30-30 and decided a Marlin 444SS would be a nice option. 2 months later I purchased an 1895MXLR in 450 Marlin and I'm currently cruising like a great white shark for a JM stamped ported 1895G Guide gun in 45-70. Just because.
 
I quite like my Winchester Trails End. Take down in 450 Marlin, Miroku manufacture. Very nice quality, shoots really nice too! ;)

I also have a JM stamped stainless Marlin 1895, ported and a trigger job done. Love that one too.

The Big Horn Armory guns are really nice, but priced out of my budget. Would be nice if Marlin came out with a more affordable version.

Have a Marlin Guide in 45-70, and 1895 in 375 Hawk-Scoville, if that passes for 'Big-Bore' here . Sorry, no pics.
 
Got an early 1886 ( as in #1056) I rebuilt with a LONG octagon NEW BARELL chanbered in 45-70 AND 45-90 ... the 45-90 uses a 300 gr bullet "express" and standard 45-70 405 gr boolitt. LOVE IT! Also have my Grandpa's 40-82 1886 that my Dad (when he was about 16 yrs old ) just HAD TO try shooting a coyote off the back of his horse ... as Dad describes it ... it was a long hard WALK back home dragging that big old Win... his horse was waiting for him at the corral back home ... the stock still bears the gouges in the forearm when that big '86 hit the ground... ��
