I've been thinking about getting a lever for a bit, not for hunting or anything just for general plinking. I kinda want something big for the wtf was that if a buddy shoots it. I was thinking a 45/70 or 444 but was seeing what some other options. Ill be reloading so it seems that evens out ammo costs

Thanks

Browning BLR in 450 Marlin. With full house loads, your shoulder will definitely feel it. But if you handload, you can also plink with lesser loads and hard cast bullets.

Take a look at these.

If more for plinking and just plain fun to shoot, look at the Winchester 94 Big Bore in 375 Win or a Winchester or Marlin in 38-55.
Mild enough for fun plinking, and yet enough power for bear defense when hiking/camping.

Of your two choices though, the 444 is less common of the two, and with the heavier bullets (270-300+ gr) now available for reloading or offered by some ammo makers makes it more attractive.

big bore for plinking? Only if you hate your shoulder ...
