Big bore levers

Marlin Dark 1895 is fantastic. Super slick action, excellent recoil pad. Loading gate smoothed out compared to some other Marlins I've handled. Super nimble with the 16 inch barrel as well. Load those big cases up or down as you see fit. Tonnes of loading data out there and tonnes of lead bullets for fairly cheap.

In 45/70 I have owned a Rossi Rio Grande, a Marlin 1895GBL and finally a Henry blued and walnut, I liked them all but my favourite is the Henry.

got one like this:

marlin-xtr-1895-4570-lever-action-186_1-scaled.jpg

it wears a Vortex scope now and is very accurate.

This is my 6th 45/70, all the others are gone, this however is a keeper

They don't make a 71.. only a 86.. their is a big difference..I know there website says 86/71, but really there is a difference.. can't really be both models as there is a physical difference... Funny

They be laid out like a 71, but they're not in 348 Win, just 45-70 at present.

Marlin 1895 GBL. Replace the sights with a Williams peep, they deliver to Canada. If you reload, H322 45gr in a 405gr copper played bullet.

I bought a 1886 Winchester in .45-70 Miroku Browning replica last year, have to say it is one of my favorites to shoot. Reloading helps to keep recoil down if you want

General Plinking with a big bore gun is not goning to be cheap.

If you cast 45-70 bullets, and reload ammunition in the 1200-1300fps range with “Unique powder”, you can shoot super cheap by comparison to factory!

I manage to get about a ton of lead for free! Grab yourself a few tried and true molds for the 45-70 (350,405, 450 grain flat or round nose profiles) and you can have a riot!

I have casted more than a thousand bullets for the 45-70, and with the load combinations suggested above, I have shot oodels of targets with the relatively low recoil levels!

Fun all around!
