So .
I've decided to get myself a new to me .22 LR .
I'm OK with New or Used ( it seems used are going for more than new at the moment though ) .
I've narrowed my choices are these assuming i can find them .
(1) CZ 457 MTR with 20'' barrel . (2)Tikka T1X (3) Ruger american long range target .
If anyone has experience with any or all of these , please feel free to give Pro's and negatives also accuracy wise .
I do lots of shooting and , now that i am retired , i need something cheaper than reloading for centerfire .
Thanks in advance for any comments and help .

I have a cz 457 varmint with the match chamber in an MDT XRS.

It is as accurate as 22’s get pretty much.
Holds its own with rifles costing three times more. Zero complaints.

22 accuracy has a LOT to do with ammo.
The nicest guns out there will not group the cheap stuff much better than your average plinkster.

Match ammo from Eley, RWS, or SK/Lapua.
that’s your ticket.

Your choice of cz457 mtr or Tikka t1x are both great and will keep you happy for a while with their accuracy. Cz457 platform seems to have a lot more aftermarket support and accessories, and in general is the most popular out of the tree listed.
Do not buy the ruger long range target. The accuracy is nowhere near of those other two you listed. And you are stuck with the 10 round mags

Otherwise just go away we cannot help without more information

we would be those who wish to comment or might be in the know for information specific to further information from the OP

Thanks for the reply . Thats why i figured i would ask .
I enjoy target shooting with my centerfires but i can only get to 250 yards at the place where i shoot .
I have a Savage heavy barrel 17HMR , Savage A22 pro varmint and an old .22 Stevens Mag with an extremely short barrel .
I just enjoy shooting so i'm pushing these to see what i personally can do .
The 17 HMR is pretty accurate but i only just sighted it in today at 40 yards .
The 22 Mag has the most horrendous trigger but i can sometimes manage a 1.5" group at 100 yards .
The Savage is brand new .
The pro varmint stock while looking nice is a terrible fit ( at least in my rifle ) .
There so so much gap and movement all around the receiver it would have shot better without a stock .
I managed to "pack" it with thin pieces of card board glued to the insides of the stock just to see if it would help , and , it did a little .
It managed a few 3/4" groups today at 40 yards so that's something to work on .
I want a .22 lr bolt action and that's why i was asking about the CZ, Tikka and Ruger .
Again its not for competitions , its just for me to see what i can do at various ranges .

I would suggest the CZ, I have had the Tikka and was not happy with it's performance.

CZ also seems to have a lot more available for those that like to "spend a ton more money" to play around with accessories. (guilty) But the 20" MTR you listed would serve you very well for most any shooting style you choose. (bit heavy for offhand)

Maybe consider a Savage B22 Precision. Accuracy on my savage B22FVSS is actually on par or better than that of my CZ457. I now have my savage in a mdt chassis and it is just a joy to shoot. And in your case would also share mags with your A22.

That being said the CZ457 are so popular for a reason. Very solid rifles that can be modded tk be whatever you wish. I love my CZ457 Canadian. Fit and finish is far better than the Savage.

Have a look at the .22s on the intersurplus site. Keep an eye on the site for new rifles to be added if nothing peeks your interest.

Get a CZ 457 with a thick barrel and a match chamber … It’ll outshoot anything else on the production market

I would choose the CZ out of the ones you listed. A heavy barrel has the potential for best accuracy but you'll need match ammo to see it.

I must have checked over 25 Stores over the past week and there are no CZ 457 MTR available .
I did find one with 16"barrel but i really want a 20" barrel.

No, unfortunately I have not seen much available myself. You may try contacting Tesro to see what they have coming up. The CZ 457 in an MDT XRS stock is a great choice, they fit to the shooter very well.

I have a history with, and am partial to CZ. I have owned more than a few Brno and CZ rifles and have been more than pleased with the quality, accuracy and precision of all of them. Presently CZ has a load of options, both CZ and after market for fine tuning and customization. Tika are great rifles also, but I go with what I know and am confident in. For me, there is no choice. CZ.

Own a Tikka UPR and CZ MTR, accuracy wise they are very much the same but the CZ is easier to modify, overall have a better finish (nice stock)and less plastic part. Recently bought a Anschutz and the CZ will be my back up and the Tikka is going on market
