Who has them?

Specifically, I need dovetail sights for a para GI expert 1911. I tried searching first, if someone wants to search better than I can, and make my search-fu look weak, that'd be just as welcome as an original answer.

I wouldn't quite call my search of sponsor sites exhaustive, but I checked the ones I figured were most likely.

I was going to order some for a Glock but was told by those in the know that they suck past 5 yards... I guess I need to try a gun with them on at some point.

I'll let you know about how well they do for the the Glock, course getting rid of those factory sights, was a pleasure.

I just wanted to standardize all my sights, and those ones seemed decent. I don't do any precision target shooting, so long as they are fast, I can see them in dark, and they'll keep rounds in the 8 ring or better that's about all I'm capable of on a good day.

Course, now that I'm 2 hours into installing the novak's on the GSG (80% parts compatibility with "minor" fitting, I guess the sights are on the small side). If the dovetail sights are anything like the GSG's novak, I'll just skip the whole thing.

Places I got these ones from, only had the one's I got.

big dots are easy to install....

I shot them on NIKOPG's gun at a tactical response and they are really good .. we where shooting at 15 yds and they where as easyto use as anything else.... make sure to get the big dot version though.

I really like the concept of those sights and I don't see why they would not be accurate at longer distances? there is a V notch at the mag you use so long as its lined up properly you should be able to shoot straight - i want them

daanimal... there is unedited video of that dude from tac response shooting the XS sights on a glock 19 out to 100 yds no problem.... frankly xs sights are something you have to try, you either like them or you don't.

haters are going to hate... some find the xs sights to far "out of the box" for them to accept them.

Your sources suck with a handgun if that was their opinion. The sights are designed to be acquired rapidly, such as under stress when in a gunfight. That being said, they are more than accurate beyond 5 yards. Hitting poppers at 50 is a non issue and the usual 25 yard max pistol range is a joke. XS sights do require the user to be more consistent in their fundamentals(for more precise shooting) as the front sight to rear sight relationship is not as precise as standard blade and notch sights. There is a distinct learning curve with these sights.

The XS big dots rule! Best quick aquisition sights I have used but hard to come by up here for some reason. TSE used to carry them. If you need them for a Glock I know where to order from, Brownells would not ship them last time I tried. Dot the I and BAMMMM

.

On a Glock, yes. My glock took all of 3 minutes, including removal of the old ones.

On a GSG 1911, with undersized novak cuts, you have a LOT of metal to file away, before it'll fit. My inner bubba is shining, almost as much as the places I took zinc off the slide. I'm going to guess/hope that zinc doesn't rust, and it's mostly a cosmetic issue.

The theory of an express sight is sound, they've been around for 100+ years. It seems to me though that you might as well point shoot at the ranges they are designed for and save yourself $100.

Let me get this right: you already have two sets mounted on a glock and gsg, yet your looking for a supplier? Maybe your really looking for a gunsmith?

The ranges they are designed for?? What, you mean 25 yards and in like most pistols and pistol sights are designed for? I just hit the range today and was smacking steel at 140 yards measured with regularity. Yes, the Big dots are designed for shooting people at the typical 10 yards and less where one would encounter a lethal force threat. That doesn't mean that can't be run out to the max effective range of the system and/or shooter.

Hey TDC ,my guy is a grand master ipsc dude and one hell of a shot with any firearm...He is a master gun guy in all respects. He is an opinionated SOB too:p so perhaps that explains the comments.

You (TDC) have made many a comment in favour of them and you seem to know your stuff. I would like to try them out for sure. If any of you guys are near Squamish I'll cover your day card if I can try your glock with them on.

I currenty have trijcon ns and would be willing to perhaps trade for some BD XS if I like them.

Likely, but I'll need a set for him to install first. Just can't find the dovetail cut ones.

Hit the range with the Glock today. Once I confirmed the sights were on straight, I proceeded to chew a hand size hole out of a B34 target. Almost all rounds were within the 8 ring or better, which is as accurate as I am personally capable of. I found the sights very quick to pick up, much quicker than the 3 dot on the para 1911, hard to tell as I only used one target for almost 200 rounds, but I'd say the Glock with XS sights, certainly appeared more accurate, despite being my first time using them.

I like them, am happy with the $$$ spent, and am still looking for one more set to have all my pistols sighted the same.
