There are some great PCP air rifles out there for large game such as the Sam Yang Dragon Claw. My recommendation would be to order through Pyramid Air (they ship to Canada): http://www.pyramydair.com However, due to firearm laws, these air rifles are PAL required.

As for applicable laws, airguns are classified as a firearm if projectile energy (over 4.2 foot pounds) and velocity (over 500 feet per second). As for hunting with them, you will have to check your province specific regulations. You will find that there is either nothing specifically laid out for airguns or you will find specific restrictions.

For example, my understanding for Ontario is that any airguns are allowed for small game (including pistols under 500FPS - anything over that is considered a restricted firearm and is prohibited). As for big game, I was told by the MNR that big bore airguns were not allowed for deer season.

Hope that helps.

I shot a custom 45 caliber PCP. It was pushing 500 grain slugs at something like 800+ fps (450+ ft lbs energy). They sure hit with a good thud.... The commercial guns like the Sam Yang don't come close to that.

The off shore large bore air rifles are okay.
When I began to look for one several years ago, I decided that I wanted a US made PCP large bore.
Dennis Quackenbush builds some very nice PCP airguns, but his back list is years out. I then discovered a fellow in Louisiana that built large bore PCP air rifles, Jack Haley at Southern Airguns.

I own a Jack Haley (RIP) .457 cal PCP air rifle. Jack custom built his guns to order. Shortly after getting my .457 cal rifle, he introduced a .58 cal air rifle. At a 100 yds I am getting 3" five shot groups with it using 340 gr pellets. With a 3500 psi charge it will provide 5 - 6 accurate, lethal shots.
I've shot 'pellets' ranging from 340 - 505 grain HP's and .457" lead ball out of it.
The guys in the US hunt wild pigs, deer using these types of air rifles.

Here's a couple of Youtube videos of a JH being shot at distances one wouldn't think an airgun could reach out to.

Here is a short video of one of my sons shooting my JH. That's a 505 gr HP 'pellet' being loaded in at the start of the video!

From 30 - 40 yards away, you would think you just heard a air powered frame nailer discharge, it does not have the typical high velocity crack one would associate to a rifle discharge.

She's a pretty cool beast to take out once in a while to play with.

A Youtube channel I subscribe to swears by the Benjamin Rogue .357.
They claim it's the most power production air rifle.

could I shoot any 357 lead with this air rifle?

I think so..Here a bit from their website:

"The Rogue features a 6-shot magazine that accomodates all shapes of .357 caliber bullets perfectly, whether they are the Benjamin eXTREME Pursuit flat nose or hollow points, Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets or your own cast bullets."

id say the rouge is a little under powered for big game id want at least a .50 for deer but I will say used right( a bang on heart shot seems to turn game into a fountain) they are effective they tend to leave a big hole I think its do to the fact they are moving slower then what most would call normal.

skip to 2:40
