Big game hunting TOOLS of choice. What do you use?

Seeing as I can hunt year round with a rifle (even though some say I should only be able to use a bow! 
) I use this:
SAVAGE 10FPLE1A (20" 308) with Leupold VX-II 1-4X20mm
sighting in last year, witnessed by kevin.303 (federal fusion 165gr)

But that doesn't mean anything. Kevin is a cheap drunk, that could be a single keyhole from a tumbling bullet and he would have believed you.

Geez, where to start.
For deer down south I plan to use either a .280 in a Rem 700 Mtn rifle or my 6.5-06 in in T3.
For Elk out west I plan to use either my 300WSM in a X-bolt carbon fiber, or one of my .308 Norma Mags, or a 30-06 in a Rem 700 Mtn rifle LSS.
For Camp Wainwright deer in December I think I'll use my .270win in a M70 Winlite XTR SS. But I might use one of my Husqvarnas in .270 as well. Depends on what the weather is like.
As for the argument on semantics, a weapon is a type of tool. There are all sorts of tools, but when a tool is used for the intent to injure, maim, or kill, then it is a weapon. A rock is a tool when used to pound in a tent stake. When I use it to pound my brothers head in, then it's a weapon.
A stick is a tool when used to find out how deep the mud puddle is, but when I use it to kill a grouse, then it's a weapon.
A rifle, when used to shoot an animal, is a specific kind of tool called a weapon. I'm using it to kill the animal.
But, if you're not using your rifles to kill or injure things, then I suppose they are just tools, and not weapons.

this is why every few months i search your most recent post to find out how you've been mocking me lately.
Same A-bolt in 300WM I've used for the last 18 years. I have plenty of other rifles, but I have the most confidence with the A-bolt.
Although, my 2004 Ram 2500 has been doing quite well at killing deer the last 2 years running......

Does that XCR of yours shoot bullets that talk the deer to sleep, allowing you to cut the throat for the kill? How about that 375 RUM, does it administer belly rubs to grizzly bears so they become docile enough to pose with?
Anything I have ever shot an animal with has inflicted bodily harm and massive internal damage resulting in death. I guess that means I used weapons.
To awnser the OP, this year has seen success already with the 375 Ruger Alaskan, and the Mossberg 500 20 ga.
This weekend, I will try to knock down a few pheasants with that mossberg, and try to stick an arrow in a mulie with my Hoyt Trykon.
The rest of the season will likely see me using the M70 Extreme Weather in 300 WSM, as the gunsmith still has my 6.5-06 bolt somewhere in his moving boxes, and I won't likely see it until the season has ended. Booo!
