Big gooey piles of gopher guts is all thats left of alot of gophers today , had the 243 and the 280AI out in the field today, all most too much fire power , but more fun than the 22 , kind of cool to watch them explode , next time I'm taking the xbow out. What kind of fire power do you guys use on this formidable foe? Are the bears out yet?

Have had Icehunter's 460 weatherby, 458 and 416 rigby out on gophers, and everything else down to 22's.

Honestly, it's hard to get more splat than with a 22-250 at close range

My all time favorite are shotguns. 7 1/2's to 8's for gophers, slugs for when their sitting on big mounds...Shoot the mounds! :D I think the most fun was with Winchesters 30-30 factory rounds, loaded with the 150 grain hollowpoint. Any guts shot resulted in a bommerang, consisting of the head and arse, connected by spine, helecoptering through the air. My .300 and other big guns do nothing for me. They die, but nothing spectacular, though i did try drilling out some 165 softpoints, in an attempt at making them a hollowpoint. Let's just say accuracy wasn't too good. Now, I stick to the rimfire stuff, it's cheaper.

i took my 204 out for the first time for gophers. it works great, lots of greasy gopher piles. launches them pretty high in the air too. the load was 40 grain v-max@3923fps. could hold dead on out to 180yards before i had to compensate for drop. at 250 yards hold on top of back.

i had a mound of a dozen or more in one spot, they kept coming to eat their gopher buddies.

Okay , lying on the ground five feet from gopher bunker with 12gauge in hand ,gopher pops to take a look goes back in, then back out for another look, after 7 or 8 times of poping up and down gopher comes all the way out and " BOOM" instant pureed gopher.
