When out at the range I notice there are a couple big guns that WILL NOT bench..My ruger 77 lott, and my chum's win 70 458 win. We have tried letting the forearm rest on its own,we have tried holding it,we have,we have, on and on. After a couple hundred rounds through my lott over a few months, I was out again one day shooting fly #### groups.Normally I'll use up my ammo, but seeing the day was going no different,I said the hell with it and started to pack up. In frustration I loaded 3 in and just flailed them off hand at the hundred. what 3 in an 1 1/4",ah thts a fluke,I'll throw 3 again 1 1/2",WHAT THE BLEEP????????. Comming home I was and still am pleased and sadened..I mean ultimately you shoot free hand,so I'm happy, but when your working up a new load its nice to bench. Cause if your doing it with 2$ a piece barnes and its 50 rounds cause you cant eliminate human error,no fun!!!!So I'm thinking of creating a platform that sits on our gun club rest that raises it so I'm straighter in posture, like my upper body was standing. I talked to a test fire tech at ruger and explained what I had been doing so far and he says they dont do anything different. All my other lott and win mag stuff does one holers.....Any ideas???????
