Thanks again guys, I will practice 300 yards + shots with irons, I will have good binoculars though, or maybe a telescope :d
The Chadwick Ram, the only Ram taken with more the 50" of horn on both sides was taken in the 1930's with a 404 Jeffery Rifle!
I don't think he used a scope!!

In BC unless you have a releative who can take you hunting with him, it is a guided hunt only! At least that is what I understand.

A Canadian resident only need a BC resident apply for an accompanied hunt permit.

A non-Canadian needs a close relative - no cousins - in order have an accompanied hunt.

A Canadian resident who wants to hunt sheep had better have deep pockets though. On top of the 75 dollar general licence they will need a $620.00 sheep tag. $695.00 + gst = $736.70

And your point is? It is still just as hard to get one and in just as rough a country!

Harder actually as with most Rocky Mtn Bighorn or California Bighorn hunting you don't have to fight your way around grizzly bears like you do for Stones.

Even with Chadwick, he was a rich Yankee who had an entire packtrain haul him an unbelievable long ways for over a month IIRC. He had so much money and nothing but time to go play. Today, there is a whole lot more people out there vying for the same trophy and you have to beat them to it without spooking off the quarry. If you read the story, you will remember his first shot hit nowhere near any vitals and it took several more shots to dispatch the animal.
I will agree that he got it done with irons, but I will also say it a different situation in those days. Our friend here may not have this kind of time on his hands.
That was a 404 Jeffreys, was it not?

Actually,I have encountered grizzly bears hunting bighorns in Alberta. And I has seen far more legal stone rams than legal bighorns, even though I have seen many more bighorn rams..

Would you guys please quit talking about sheep hunting. I am having a real hard time sleeping knowing the season is one month away :D

You are doing nothing but making it worse :(

From page 9 of the Hunting regs: "Permits to Accompany may not be available for all species and areas (for example, thinhorn sheep). Please contact...1-866-433-7272 for more info."
