Years ago, a native fellow was traveling alone in a remote are near here. He was attacked by a cougar and despite a horrific wound across his face, he killed the cougar and then drove the horses and wagon on to the village.
I don't think the attack was reported, or the wound treated. The fellow lived, but had a huge scar across his face.
