Took advantage of this to get one of the SKS's. Shipping was super fast! Yesterday I completely stripped it and took the brake cleaner to it to degrease. I don't know what type of cosmoline they were using but it was extremely gritty, I was left with a puddle of sand in my parts tray, even had to take the spring and guide apart and rinse under hot water. Once that was done I sprayed everything with Eezox, greased the high wear parts, and reassembled. Felt 100x times better cycling the action immediately.

Performance at the range exceed expectations. After a slight adjustment to the front sight for windage with a AK sight adjustment tool it was bang on at 100m and printing decent groups for surplus ammo/SKS irons. Can't beat the value and fun at that price point. Wish I got 2!

That's strange, we've never heard a gritty residue left over but I'm glad you got it cleaned up and working well! Thanks for your order and happy shooting!

So when is our sale starting? Also Is Manitoba similar to BC and Alberta and not charging P tax for out of province purchases?
Cheers Bob

Hey Bob, we'll be having other big sales in the future and we'll be sure to let everyone know much sooner ahead of time. But that's right all out of province purchases are only charged the 5% GST. We also ship country-wide for a flat rate of $12.95.

I just recently got an SKS from another dealer and i noticed the same grittyness. My best guess is the new batch are russian import vs ukrainian, and they don't seem to be soaked it cosmoline like the ones from the ukrain were. It looks like they were cleaned at some point and just oiled, which must have either attracted lots of dirt, or broken down or dried into a gritty mess.

That makes sense, we have noticed these haven't had very much cosmoline on them at all which I always though was sort of weird because when I got my first SKS a few years ago the thing had cosmoline packed into every corner of that gun. I've also noticed these have Russian markings under the gas tube which I've never seen before either.
