Bighorn or Ultimatum action?

SR3 LA repeater.

Looks like you did exactly what I want to do. Build some nice hunting rifles out of these actions. What stock did you go with? Bottom metal?

Wanted to take advantage of some SHOT show specials but Gary Eakin is out of of town until the 6th...

Right now, I have it narrowed down to the following:

- Big Horn SR3
- ARC Mausingfield
- Defiance Deviant Hunter

Will likely bring in a few actions for myself and a buddy and have a few builds going. Who did you work?

Stock is a B&C, bottom metal is PT&G Oberndorf, both picked up off the EE. Still pondering changing out the rail for a two piece ring/mount system but if I chamber up another barrel or two the rail will be the easiest way to switch out scopes with barrels.

Not a single bad thing to say about the Bighorn. Love it. Will probably eventually do a short action build as well. Talked to Gary about the Bighorn Origin just before he left. Sounds like it will be about $3-400 cheaper than the SR3. Gary said Defiance is coming out with a lower priced action as well.

Smithing was done by Gary Flach in Langley BC.

This action looks impressive.

I'll most likely be deciding between the Deadline and this Origin.

Hey All looks like ZAI has a new cut down version of the TL3 called the ORIGIN at a promotional price pulled this off their FB page. Pretty good price even with the exchange for a custom, Gary Eakins calling Gary! LOL.

If the bighorn has a 2 lug bolt vs a 3 lug bolt,
This would likely mean easy AICS magazine feeding, with any brand mags, without modifications.
A 3 lug bolt means the mag sits lower, and by consequence will hit the feedramp if mags are not tuned.
You can also forget plastic mags in a 3 lug design.

It's a 2 lug action. Shouldn't have any issues getting it to feed.

Yep the tl3 is absolutely scrumptious. My 223 build looks incredible. 24” heavy varmint contour benchmark barrel. TT diamond trigger and krg green bravo stock. Heavy beast. Action smoother than a models legs. Lol

If i would of researched properly, that’s the action i really wanted.
Now that i have an AR build underway, will continue using my IBI pipe threaded to a savage receiver.
I now want a bighorn after reading about them... but not now as I’m not ready.
