Bighorn tl3 aics magazine problem, bolt won’t pick rounds up properly, mag too low..

Ordered a new steel aics magazine for my 223 rem bighorn tl3 rifle and the magazine appears to be sitting quite low when looking down the receiver port. The bolt pushes the round forward but it doesn’t make it up into the extractor claw to actually grab the round and bring it straight into the chamber. I have the rifle in a krg bravo chassis. The magazine clips in all the way so I don’t the issues here. The plastic insert in the steel mag causes the rounds to sit a bit too low for the bolt to pick them up all the way.

Hey Mike 112288, is that factory ammo you're loading into the magazine, or hand loads?

I have the same issue with my Defiance 223, with both steel/plastic and polymer mags. I'm looking into getting a longer magazine latch made, I suspect you will have to do the same.
In the mean time, I fixed a thin strip of epoxy to the bottom lip of the magazine catch on my magazines, to hold them 1/8" higher up. Works flawlessly.

Have you tried a different brand of magazine? Polymer MDT or Accu-Mag? I believe the 223 RPR mags are also AICS compatible.

Does not load a round. I tried slow because the bolt is controll round feed and is supoosed to catch the casing and hold it properly but the mag doesn’t push the round up towards the bolt face enough for it to slide into its proper place and catch the extractor

The rifle will not feed, extract, and eject live rounds from a magazine? Or it just doesn’t feed the top cartridge into the bolt face and engaged by the extractor?

Have you tried running it normally? It was not designed to be run slowly, for you to be able to watch the round clip into the bolt face. Run it like it's a rifle, and I bet it chambers a round just fine.

Problem solved. I don’t know what changed but I was gonna put my tan bravo stock on my bighorn instead cuz the green one I had on it didn’t look as good with the stainless rifle. Now it feeds like a champ. Heppy heppy :)

Oh nice. You will liiiiiiiike it. Tried a defiance and this one and I like this actions feel better. Controlled round feed is super nice

Make sure you take the time to actually shoot the gun! Its a lot of fun and ur only here once. Cheers Chris and I wish you well Mike

Got everything already except for the barrel and brake. Bighorn TL3, DLC, 308 BF, going to get a 26" IBI in 308 Win 1:10 Twist, MDT 3/4-24 Elite Brake, MDT ESS, and a TriggerTech Primary with a Bushnell DMRIIi 3.5-21X50. So stoked!
