Bill C-21 and action shooting sports

If this legislation becomes law it could be interesting traveling to a shooting competition ducking and dodging municipalities that decide to ban handguns.

There is no conflict of resource allocation here.
 
Yes there is. Telling the government you want to get on their list gives legitimacy to the list. That is contrary to the efforts of people working to oppose the existance of the list in the first place. Compliance always works contrary to opposition.

Resources are relatively finite. So unless you are suggesting there are people willing to run this effort that would otherwise be sitting on their hands and not working to oppose some other aspect of our gun control, then worrying about this necessarily means people aren't doing else to actually oppose increasing gun control.

But like I said, I hope every sport that wants to be on the stupid list can get on it and have their lives suck a little less. But to me it seems to make sense to focus on that after the bill has passed. To me right now is the time to work to defeat the bill rather than comply with it. But I might be crazy.

No, there isn't.

Ya, you might. Especially since I didn't suggest co-operation or compliance. Particularly with something that isn't yet law. Afaik, you've indicated that you're not involved in any action shooting sports, so you wouldn't necessarily know what efforts the participants are making to fight all of this gun control. (Including municipal handgun bans.) But, as usual, you're quite anxious to judge and jump to wild conclusions, so carry on.

as the vaccine program falls further behind (we are 38th in the world, .8%) expect to see more gun bullying as a distraction. waiting to see some liberal gun owners wanting to turn in their firearms, being interviewed by the CBC.

They'll do whatever they can to divide and conquer. Including pitting gun owners against each other.
 
The Governor General is and has been the patron of Service Rifle competition in Canada for well over 100 years ...….. Her office issued medals I was awarded as recently as 2019.
The GG happily said in may 2020 that ARs have no a legitimate sporting purpose so who is to determine your legitimacy in the future?

I hope that banning bunch of airguns in bill C-21 will wake them up, no gun is safe with Liberals...

At 67 I do not want to compete, like the majority, just informal target shooting. These things are not nuclear bombs, just common handguns. Have we reached the tipping point in this country where massive demographic change has altered our politics forever? Quite possibly.

We have some gentlemen in our IDPA club that are around the same age as you. They have little interest in vigorous 'competition', either, but they do enjoy the camaradarie and social aspect of getting together for a match, and they absolutely do enjoy the opportunity to actually shoot their handguns alongside like-minded folks.

Gun control measures are better able to pick off firearms and their owners when they are solitary actors, not well-connected to like-minded persons and groups, and when they don't share a common endeavour, only one example of which is the action shooting sports. Organization is always an advantage.
