Heck, I swoon myself! Thanks for the kind words , guys. In truth, I am one of a whole bunch of Canadian tradesmen who do OK. I suspect it's hard to make a 223 shoot real bad.
I was concerned about the bolt handle on Chuck's rifle, but, when I held it up and looked in the mirror, it looked OK so I sent it off.
Left handed rifles can be confusing for the gunsmith. Especially if that gunsmith leans toward confusion as his normal state.
On Winchester Model 70's, I just mark the barrel at BDC and use that as my reference when I make the extractor cut. Once, when doing a left handed rifle for some poor misfit, I set the barrel up as usual and did a heck of a nice job cutting that extractor cut. I screwed the barrel in and cinched it up tight. I was some shocked when the darn bolt wouldn't even start to close! I was even more shocked when I looked in and the extractor slot was missing! Of course, closer examination showed it not to be missing; just misplaced. Wrong side. Yeah, that Leeper, he's real smart! Regards, Bill.
