There's nothing to speak to her about. The Bill has 14 days to get picked up (Sponsored) or it dies, just like the last Bill 231 she proposed.

Everybody here knows that this bill is a private Senators bill, and is not any indication of the gov't actions, right? This is put forth by a soon to be gone Senator, and it will die on the order table like the 99.99% of ALL private bills that are put forth. Like the bill that wanted to ban pet ownership, and the bill that wanted to develop a unified currency with the US. These are not gov't positions, these are personal whims, put forth by individuals, not gov't. We can relax, at least as far as this particular bill goes.

my first reaction to this when I read it was that it is too ridiculous to ever pass, but after thinking about it, is this a liberal ploy to scare the #### out of everyone with bill s223, then come up with something only half as bad (but still really bad) and hope it gets accepted by first desensitizing us that little bit??

"Are you in favor of a measure to ensure violent criminals cannot access untraceable firearms?" will get very different results than, "Are you in favor of a government bureacracy which will be completely ineffective at doing anything other than spending vast sums of money?"

This. But then again it wouldn't give the majority on here a reason to froth at the mouth, speculate and spread unfounded fear.
It reminds me of the guys at the gun counter endlessly #####ing but never buying anything or going to the range. Professional Victims.

This is one persons failed attempt being resurrected and failing again, it is not a party agenda and is not the 'Fight of our Lives' whether you want to believe it or not.

Let me be clear: I am aware of how a bill becomes a law in Canada. I understand that this is a private bill introduced in the Senate by a retiring senator. I understand that the chances of such a bill becoming law are essentially nil.

Yet, if you think that the views of this particular senator, as set out in her bill, exist in isolation vis-a-vis the Liberal government then you need a wake-up call.
The Liberal cabinet may not share all of her views, but they share many. They will, indeed, take note of the reaction to her bill.
The opposition to the LGR was grassroots. It worked. The Liberal govn't needs reminding of this.
All of us should be turning our minds and energy to this struggle, because the beginning of the struggle to preserve our civil liberties started with the election of Trudeau as PM.
At the very least, join the NFA and CSSA.
If we are complacent, then we will look like an easy mark.

And BTW, I would hardly call writing a politely worded letter to your senator or MP or Jody Wilson-Raybould "frothing at the mouth".
If you believe that there is nothing to be concerned about, then by all means, stand on the sidelines and do nothing.

So said landslide Annie. She thought it was end game and that was it. Fortunately many Canadians didn't take her at her word and kept on fighting. "Gun control" in Canada seems to be like a case of herpes. Always simmering just below the surface until some Liberal causes a flare-up.
