Bill S-223

This clueless woman had this to say about the Parliament Hill attack:

On Friday 28 May 2015, Hervieux-Payette sent an email to the Speaker of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Commons, all Senators and all Members of Parliament complaining about the presence of armed police officers at the doors into the Senate.[6] She stated, "In my opinion, it is a serious mistake to arm police officers with these weapons. No matter what, the first victims of an attack will probably be police officers, because people who wish to do harm do not give advance notice. Security that relies on firepower has proven to be ineffective, and millions of Americans have paid the price for this false assumption with their lives." The letter went on to conclude that because the attacker on 22 October was killed by the Sergeant at Arms and not police, the presence of armed police was therefore unnecessary.

Wow this woman is absolutely clueless.

Even if the bill goes no where we still have to write and fight these things. It will show we as a firearms community have a prescense and they might think twice next time.

Oh I'm not arguing the fact it deserves a response at all. I'm just saying we should avoid words that relate to actual war and/or physical violence. NOT because it will "hurt a liberal's feelings" or some nonesense... But because it just gives "them" ammunition (pardon the pun). I couldn't care less about being PC, but there is something to be said for diplomacy on our part.

Don't they have a better way of spending tax many. For stupid amount of work they put into this, why don't they pay out their pockets. It is almost would be "hm, I'm true Canadian and I know what people needs. Why don't i waste some money on something stupid, even though there is some other, more important, imperfections in the system". I think, for every proposal, that is clearly a waste of tax payers money, they are have to pay a penalty out of their salaries.

The time when us as legal firearms owners learn not be so damn politically correct and stand up to this bull####.... I think then we will actually see some change rather sit here and pick words that we think may or may not hurt the feelings of these liberals, cuz they sure don't care about how we as legal gun owners think... They pretty much calling us criminals at this point

The only thing this bill will do will be create a bunch of law abiding citizens into criminals real quick... people aren't going to be very happy if we have to hand over thousands of dollars in firearms to the government

Dear Mr. Randy Boissonnault, M.P.

I hope you are doing well. I write to you out of my concern for bill S-223 which is with parliament currently. I request that you do not support this bill. As a responsible and legal firearms owner, I feel my rights are being attacked, by people who do not understand the proposed legislation put forward. It is a bill written out of fear and misunderstanding. When people see an individual other than a police officer or military personnel with a firearm , they are afraid. What they don't understand is, there is nothing to be afraid of. We are the best Canadians. When was the last time you had a background check? I have had one everyday of my life since obtaining my P.A.L. I don't refrain from breaking the law so I can keep my firearms, I do it because it's what's right and how I was raised.
Whether people believe it or not, firearm owners aren't the redneck, uneducated individuals that are seen in the movies. We are everyday Canadians, who just enjoy another sport, no different to hockey or baseball. We go out to safe locations, shoot targets, hunt animals to put food on the table , compete in competitions, hold charity events. After doing the former, we go home, clean and oil our firearms and lock them up until the next time we can take them out and safely enjoy our sport. In the case of restricted firearms, we follow some of the stricter legal requirements in the world. We are not criminals and are fed up with being treated as such by individuals and groups, who just do not understand. Criminals are criminals no matter what law is put down on paper. Law abiding citizens are the reason this country is great, and as a firearms owner I fall into this category of Canadian. We follow the rule of law, we believe in the rights and freedoms our forefathers fought and died for. Please do not support the bill, please do research, please support your fellow Canadians. Thank you

Yours respectively,
