Are bimetal bullets harder on your barrel? I'm asking in particular regarding Silver Bear 223 hp ammunition. Its bimetal, which I take as meaning copper plating over steel jacket, correct me if I'm wrong.

All jacketed bullets contain two metals. If there's any steel, it's much softer than the barrel steel. The Russian made Silver Bear uses zinc plated cases, so it likely is steel jacketed. A magnet will tell you for sure. A lot of ranges won't let you shoot it.

Its a hollow point. Presumably designed to expand on impact, otherwise I wonder the use of it compared to fmj. Someone told me the Norma match grade ammo I've been using for years is copper over steel and hard on the barrel. Looking for some advice on this.
