Binoculars for hunting that won't break the bank

To think about a bino depends on how long distance your range is. if it's 100 yards, 6X is enough, longer then that? A 8X will be a better choice. then pick a brand, as folks said Nikon or Pentax won't go wrong.

Have a serious look at the Leica Trinovid HD 8x42's. They can be found in Canada for a little over one thousand dollars.
You won't find better glass in their price range.

I think the Minox 10x42 is the best buy for the money... considerably less than Leica in price... right up there with quality.

Hard to go wrong with a quality made optic but choosing between a bunch of good options is a personal thing as we all "see" things a bit differently.

I would let him decide what he likes best in this case.

Watch the equipment exchange for used stuff. I got a set of meopta meostars for half the price, and a set of nikon monarch 5 on kijiji for a 3rd of the price.

For range finding Bino’s I went with the Nikon laser force 10x42. I wish they had them in 8x but I have had them for 3 years and pleased with them. I after getting them I soLd my Leica range finder which has. Lot of additional features but when hunting I just didn’t have time for those features - I just wanted distance and incline.
