Maybe I'm an old fart or my eyesight is doing funny things, but my 25 year old Minolta 8 x 40 wide angle binos are serving me well for my earthpig hunting and I wanted a 10 x 50 or maybe a ZOOM pair of binos for Faja's Day in mid-June. :D

Here's the rub....all the binoculars I'm running into are all the twist up/down eye cups and they keep shifting on me whenever I bring the unit up to my face, then I have to re-adjust.

I really like my fold up/down eye cups and now I have to look high/low & far/wide to find a pair of old school binoculars.

Am I that "old school" ?? WTF ?

Thoughts ? Suggestions? Yeah, right, I knew someone would tease me with my own advice of, "Save yer money." :nest:

Cheers,
Barney

As a Celestron sales rep I can tell you that our lower end product called UpClose still have the soft rubber eyecups and come come in the popular sizes 7x50, 10x50, 8x40 ect. For the price they are tough to beat but like any low end optic, the image quality isn't real comparable to a $200.00 product. FS

Try to find a pair of the older Zeiss with the rubber coated barrels. A 7x42 BGA T* is a great pair as is the 10x40, compact and clear with the rubber eyecups you're looking for.

The twist-up eyecups on newer binocs seem to last better than the pull-up ones.

Ask for a pair of Nikon Monarch's on June 20th. They are the twist up and down eyecups but are very tight and not just the plastic clicks you will see on some of the lower end stuff out there. See if you can grab a pair to try at your local shop.
