binos too small

I think my eyes are farther apart than average. On any binoculars I ever used I tried to push the barrels apart a bit more.
Today I went to an optics store and tried everything they had on display. All binos seem to have the same maximum interpupillary distance.
Have you ever seen or heard of some "wider" binos?

The search would be faster by measuring your IPD first, then searching for something suitable. How wide?

Next time your at the mall, ask a nice lady in the eyeglass store to do it, that's what I did.

I then ordered glasses over the internet.
