Biped for Remington 783 short action

Ok ok, rag on me if you want, this is the first rifle I bought with hard earned money, it's a 308 winchester rifle, all stock with a tasco silver antler 3-9x 50 mm scope, it holds up well, the bore was off, alot, I shot from 12 feet away it shot to the left and down 6 feet, it was horrid, I have it basically good now, but I'm looking for a bipod, and how to attach it, a raise on the bottom was my first thought, I'd carve out the swivels, and use some other swivels if I wanted, but for now I'm looking for other options for bipeds, any advice?
 
Sand bags. I don't see a bipod as advantageous on that rifle for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is stock flex.if you want to improve accuracy, get rid of the 50 mm scope to get closer to the bore,thus improving cheek weld . I have a bipod on my .204 ruger but there is no recoil at all. I hate them on anything with any noticeable recoil.
 
The sling attachment on the 783 stock will break if a Harris style bipod is attached.
A standard stud should be attached through the stock for a Harris.
All of my Remington and CZ rifles have Harris bipods attached.
As to Nomad's comments it is what you get used to. When the recoil is elevated the solution is in holding onto the fore end and that includes experience with a 300 WM and 338 WM.
Harris repairs all of their bipods in Kentucky . . . everything else is recycled!
 
Actually, I have the bipod on my .204 so I can sit and call with it. I think it extends about 23 inches. For any other situation, I have a set of primos shooting sticks that I can extend or retract with a trigger system that have really impressed me. Called the primos trigger sticks gen 2. if my .204 wasn't more of a heavy calling rifle, I wouldn't have a bipod at all. Adds a lot of weight to an already heavy rifle.

I have put a harris on my 783....the sling attachment has held up fine.
 
Thanks all, I'm looking for a different scope, but I'm having a hard to finding a scope that I can use with my glasses lot
I wanted the bipod for stability in the brush and at the range, although of the places I can shoot at is just either a picnic table or ground, not really a high end range yet
