I'm looking for bipod ideas that dont break the bank for my Tac A1. I was considering the MDT GRND POD. I don't really want to spend more than that. I don't do competitions. I just want something for bech and prone shooting.

All depends where you are going and the shooting you plan. If you’re doing bench and prone like mentioned you could look at a more stable setup that is a little more rigid for long range stuff but it also won’t fold down like a bipod.

I run a M-Pod when doing bench or prone shooting for the most part especially when scope testing, load testing or sighting in. I will bust out a Harris bipod otherwise and take that hunting. I mounted all mine with Arca Swiss quick release plates.

The grnd pod may replace the Harris one day. MDT makes some great stuff and great customer service.

I'm not sure which mounting system I'd prefer. The rifle has mlok slots and a smal polymer pic rail up front. I noticed that the GRND pod can be ordered with either plus arca. The rifle is already heavy so I'm not sure that a little weight from an arca rail would matter but adding an arca rail will up the cost a bit.

I’ve only really used Harris, the MDT GRND’s though are currently on sale at Cabelas.

You'll like the Grndpod, I think it's honestly the best bipod in its price range. I did a review on a few similarly priced ones a while back:

We have a few different bipods but I always seem to come back to the Harris. Especially for hunting it deploys quicker, without looking or thinking while one keeps the eyes on the animal.

Harris with a KMW Pod-Loc. If it’s going on a rail I add in an ADM or Badger Ord pic rail mount. Anything better costs mucho dinero in comparison.

Honestly, once you add a pic rail mount to a Harris, it's more expensive than the Grndpod (pic rail version) and although it might be faster to deploy (especially with the paracord trick) it's ####tier to adjust. Just an honest comparison, I have Harris' with all the add ons (RRS pic/arca adapter, podlock, spike feet/Atlas feet adapters), Ckyepods, Grndpods, had a Magpul... I wouldn't throw out a Harris but I wouldn't buy another one either...

Have both the Harris and the atlas CAL bipod. Harris is simple and cheap. I added a $10 Amazon lever. At half the price, I’d probably buy another Harris before an atlas. Grnd pod looks fine too, but sometimes less is more.

I have the same rifle. As you know the chassis system adds some weight. I wanted a lighter tactical so I opted for a 3-15x scope rather than a bigger 5-25 etc and I wanted a lighter bipod up front. I generally use bags when shooting for groups.

I like the grndpod. May get one later for this rifle. For now I have a Feyachi carbon fiber Harris copy with a mlok conversion piece. It was $37 . Well made copy of the latest gen Harris. Just very basic but light. Also the adapter that comes with it is well made and fits the hanguard of the tac A1 perfectly. I happen to like the carbon fiber aspect of it.

With scope and grnd pod my rifle is 15 pounds. She's a beast and she shoots amazing tight groups.

Haha that’s getting up there! It’s a nice rifle!

Now that the grnd pod comes in mlok and in black, I will likely get one. I have a few of the earlier pic with green ones. I’m a fan. I do prefer then over the Harris with lok pod. I have lots of other rifles to move the carbon Harris clone to. The grnd pod has carbon fiber too. So weight should be close enough.
