I have a friend who's looking for a bipod for his Savage F-Class rifle I believe... it's the one with a flat-bottom fore-end stock. No rail as the other Savage model.
I suggested him a regular Harris bipod however he wants something more serious.
As long as his rifle setup weighs under 10 kilos (22 lbs), he should be happy.
I don't have a clue on bipods other than Harris and would appreciate your suggestions. Any dealers here have in stock?
He'll need to order ASAP for use at the MPRA Championships in Winnipeg end of this month.

I think he has a Bushnell scope on his rifle. Not sure how much it currently weighs. Thanks.

Ronnie

If he's in F-TR, it will need to be under 8.25kg. If he is in F-open, the limit is 10kg and a front rest would be suggested instead of a bipod if that were the case. But, if he wants a bipod, it's hard to beat a 6-9 Harris swivel for the price. If he wanted more than a harris, I would go with a Sinclair bipod instead of the Remple purely because of cost and weight. Don't get me wrong, the Remple is a great bipod, but it's heavy and not cheap.

Ronnie,

What is the calibre? We'll need to know that to determine which class he's going to be in.

If he's in F-Open I think he'd be far better of with a front rest. His rifle may end up too heavy if he tries to add a bipod to it. Some of the bipods being suggested may take him over the weight.

If he must use a bipod, before he spends any money have him weigh it with the scope and rings and anything else that will be attached. Your post office should have a cale that will be precise enough. Once he knows the amount of weight he has to play with the recommendations will be more appropriate.

If he's in F-TR he'll need a bipod and overall weight is way more important because the gun has to come in under the max with it on.

If he doesn't have a rail or sling swivel stud underneath how does he plan to mount the bipod? If it doesn't have a rail, you can get an adapter for the Remple bipod that flush mounts into the stock but you have to mill out the stock. The Sinclair and Harris bipods both mount to a sling stud.

It might be easier to mount a chunk of rail and get either a slide in sling swivel stud or the Remple rail adapter. If he mounts a piece of Anschutz rail he can use my Remple bipod and adapter at the provincials.

Is this for Donnie B's gun? It's a .308 right?

Les

Hey Les,
Was about to look for your email to ask you... yes this is for Donnie and he has the same rifle .308. So I guess it'll have to be under 8.25kg?
What would you strongly suggest to Donnie? Thanks Les

Hope I make the cut to join our guys for the MPRA. Going to be another wild ride.

Ronnie

I need to know the total weight of Donnie's gun before I can figure out which bipods will fit inside the weight restriction.

Tell him to get it on a scale and then we'll figure something out.

PM c3pppo as he make custom/awsome F-Class bi-pod rigs that you can drop a house on & they wouldn't budge.
By the way all he own's are Savage's.
