Bipod? May be a Mistake but..........

Yeah stealing the name ain’t cool but I stick with my post. They don’t want people copying there stuff they better be competitive or if it’s so special they would get a patent.

They do have a patent. Counterfeiters don’t care. That’s why it’s a rip off.
Same with Magpul, Raptor charging handles, Harris, Eotechs and who knows what else.

This has nothing to do with being competitive. If another company comes up with their own design, cheaper and better, then, yes, Atlas better up their game or lose. This is a cheap direct copy of a known product built with inferior material, trying to pass off as the original except cheaper. Total scumbag move.

well that aint cool

It’s a bipod . You can use a sand bag , cardboard box , log , etc the list goes on and on . When you price it at 400 dollars your saying hey china I just dropped the soap can you watch my back while I pick it up . Oh and the r&d costs lol . Two sticks that attach to a object make them slide up and down and fold forward .

I have no problems with a mediocre quality Chinese clone of a product. A blatant rip off that's masquerading as the real deal is taking it too far though.

I bought a RioRand (Atlas knock off) bipod off Amazon.

My wife has me on a budget after my last rifle purchase so I have to fly under the radar for a while. I really want an Atlas BT46-LW17 PSR bipod for my Ruger RPR. However, purchasing one of these would have ended with it firmly planted in my lower rear orifice. Then I was on YouTube one evening and did a search on Altas knock offs. I found a video about using some grease and a couple of o-rings to tune one up. Hmmmm. So I went on Amazon and ordered one. $61 shipped to me.

It arrived today. The folks that make these have no shame, it even says Atlas on the thing Lol. But I must say I was really surprised with this thing. It seems very sturdy, and surprisingly well made. I know, I know, I was as shocked as you are. Two o-rings and a little grease and it operates pretty dang smoothly. Mounted it on the rifle and it seems really solid. Now, I haven't shot my rifle with it yet. It may fail catastrophically. We'll have to see. I will let you all know what happens when I can finally get to the range.

Has anyone else on here tried one of these? What was your experience with them?

I got a "Killhouse" one from our local KW surplus store (same as Rio-Rand) $26 bucks. Same one hanging next on the hook was $49. I bought a cheap short rail adaptor that fastens securely to my sling stud, and has an integral stud built in to it for $12, and it seems to be just fine. I wish it was a bit shorter though; may see what I can do with the tubing cutter.

When a Chinese clone has an identical design but does not rip off the name it's less of an issue.
When they offer complete rip-offs like in this case, i do have a problem.

Maybe not OP, but somebody someday is going to offer a rip off on the EE and say it's the real deal.
If they get a new shooter, he may never know...

Ordered another one today after doing the o-ring mod. Thanks OP!

BTW "Atlas" is not a copyrighted name or brand. It has many meanings throughout the languages and the name can be found naming books, underwear and beauty creams. Also, there is significant design differences between these "named" and unnamed bipods.

Other than that, the less expensive version is solid! I wonder - if there is a patent - what part of the expensive version would be patented?

Agreed , I own 2 Atlas bi-pods and there rock solid. Would never buy a knockoff.

Funny thing Dilligaf, do you remember this post? I came across it while researching the knock off bipods.

Believe it or not some folks don't have the budget to spend $400 on a bipod. If I can get a bipod that works for me for $60, I'm gonna give it a try.

Cool story about being impressed by your friends fake Atlas though. You must have posted it only to make your friend feel better of course.

DILLIGAF got busted and is choking now lol....I'm just kidding I stir the pot....that's why I went pink a while back......anyways OP I have 2 of these and they are kick are.....never owned or seen the real thing and really don't give a Fvck about a 400$ bipod these are a good buy

Great value is garbage along with Frenchs.....there's somethings you don't buy at wal mart.....do they sell Atlas bi pods there by any chance?

1) most of my heinz ketchup comes from Walmart.

2) heinz no longer makes ketchup in Canada. If you want to support Canadian tomato farmers buy Frenchs. Many other heinz products such as beans are still made at their Ontario plant though.

I don't get the telling the wives expensive purchases comments.
Once my end of the bills are paid for, the rest is mine to spend and no need to justify anything.

Would she be mad if she knew how much razor gen ll scope cost me? She'd be furious.
Does she even need to know how much it cost? Absolutely not.

Didn't ask so i didn't tell

My wife would be mad if I bought a 3600$ paper weight too

Don't exaggerate, a vortex razor gen ll is not a paperweight.
Ever handled one?
Or just saying this out of Vortex snobbism or an elitist that will use nothing less than ###xX model of scope?
