Just wondering what people are doing to mount a bipod to these stocks. Any advice, pics, etc. would be great.

I've mounted a weaver rail and am using a Harris 6 to 9" with weaver adapter...... the Cat's @ss hehehe :D er... well it works for me anyways

i think for the simplest install Berger has the right idea.

with this I would drill out the forward sling rivets and install the bipod using one of those holes as they are recessed inside the stock where any screw heads may interfere with the oprod/gas assembly and for a permanent mount up, use epoxy putty where the bolt head is and cover it completely, locking it into the stock.
then install a second sling swivel , for your sling on the side of the fore stock ;)

I drilled out the rivets for the front sling swivel and then I installed a swivel stud through one of the holes. It works good but the swivel studs are usually too long and hit the op rod so I just cut the swivel stud to the proper length so that it didn't hit. Then I just slapped on the harris.

And that, my friends, is why I like the swivel rail.

Good to be back online here.......

I was talking to POW the other day about the set up he suggested above, I agree with him as staking parts on parts and so on gets a little much.

Mainly I have damaged a few stocks, wood and GI FG with the #2a adapter/harris. Without some extra reinforcements added to the stocks.
Then you have to worry about interfering with the gas system.

Well I just had to add my $.02's as I haven't said much quite some time. :):D

the rail below is fitted to a thick walnut stock but is an example of one rail set up.... note the sling swivel and also the rail is set up for the bipod swivel adapter

this next stock uses the sling mount holes to permanently fasten a 4 inch rail purposefully for bipod and rail mounted sling swivel

I would love to pick up a few things from Fulton Armory but they don't ship to non US addresses. That sling swivel with rail would be great to have.

I'm in the process of ordering the parts for this also. Best method (read reasonably priced for quality product) would appear to be a sling swivel with rail from Fulton Armory that mounts in the front sling swivel area and a bipod from Smith.

FA has a nice bipod but then you also have to buy an adaptor to mount it to the 1913 rail.

mount

I got an AR-15 rail mount from Questar for like 15-20 and just put it on... took about 10 minutes - 5 minutes on my grinder and working with a file.... then a few with a drill and screwing it together. It is solid & came with all the parts you see and more. The rest went into the trash.... gun works fine with it on and have not had a problem... I have a rail and a swivel.... best of both worlds for 20.....

hope you dont pay more than that.... I guess the nice thing with this is that cause of the angle on the AR-15 handguards - this also works good on the angle on the GI stock.... almost a perfect fit....
